Privacy Policy
Effective October 14, 2026
- We collect your email, your password (stored only in scrambled form) and your study activity, so your course and progress work across devices.
- We don't sell your data, share it for advertising, or use ad trackers.
- We email you study tips and Jurly updates through our email provider, Klaviyo. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Questions you send to the AI tutor and essays you submit for feedback go to our AI provider to produce a response.
- You can download your data any time in Settings, and ask us to delete your account by emailing jake@getjurly.com.
This policy explains what information Jurly collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. "Jurly," "we," "us" and "our" mean Jake Roberson, who operates Jurly at getjurly.com. If you have a question about this policy, email jake@getjurly.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: your email address and password. Passwords are stored by our authentication provider in hashed form; we never see your actual password.
- Study setup: your test date, target score and the number of days a week you plan to study.
- Study activity: your answers, scores, time spent on questions, flags and highlights, the reasons you tag for missed questions, notes and predictions you type, essays you write, messages you send to the AI tutor, and any official practice test scores you enter.
- Messages to us: anything you send when you email us.
Information collected automatically
- On your device: Jurly stores a copy of your progress, your sign-in session and your light or dark mode choice in your browser's local storage so the app works quickly and offline. We don't use advertising cookies.
- Usage analytics: we use PostHog to understand how people use Jurly: which pages you visit, what you click, your device and browser type, how you arrived (for example from a link with campaign tags), and, once you're signed in, your account ID and email. PostHog also records sessions so we can see where people get stuck; everything you type into a form is masked and never recorded. PostHog stores an identifier in a first-party cookie and your browser's local storage.
- Technical logs: like most websites, our hosting, database and font providers receive your IP address, browser type and request details when your browser connects to them, and may keep these in short-term logs for security and reliability.
Payments: subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; we keep only your subscription status and renewal date.
How we use information
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To build and adjust your course, estimate your score, schedule review questions, and show your progress.
- To understand how Jurly is used, find what's confusing or broken, and measure which marketing brings people in.
- To measure how hard each practice question is. Your first answer to each question (right or wrong, and how long it took) is combined with other users' answers, and only totals for questions answered by at least 30 people are ever shown in the app.
- To respond to AI tutor questions and give feedback on essays you submit.
- To enforce fair-use limits on AI features and to prevent abuse.
- To fix problems, improve Jurly, and contact you about your account or important changes, such as changes to pricing or these policies.
- To send you study tips, product updates and offers by email, and to see which emails and app milestones (such as signing up, finishing the placement test or subscribing) are useful. You can turn these emails off any time.
We don't sell your personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us run Jurly, and only as needed for them to provide their service to us:
| Provider | What they do | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Accounts, sign-in and database | Your email, hashed password, and saved study activity |
| AI provider | AI tutor and essay feedback | The text of your tutor questions, the related practice question, a short summary of your study stats (target score, skill levels, common miss reasons), and essays you submit for feedback. Not your email. |
| Vercel | Website hosting | Technical request data such as IP address |
| Stripe | Subscription payments | Your email and payment details you enter at checkout |
| PostHog | Product analytics and session replay | Pages visited, clicks, device and browser details, campaign tags, session recordings with typed input masked, and your account ID and email once signed in |
| Klaviyo | Email and email analytics | Your email, first name if you give it, and app milestones such as sign-up, placement score range and subscription status |
| Google Fonts and jsDelivr | Deliver fonts and a code library to your browser | Technical request data such as IP address |
Each provider handles information under its own privacy terms. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights or safety of our users or others, or as part of a transfer of Jurly to a new owner, who would be bound by this policy.
AI features
When you use the AI tutor or request essay feedback, the text you send is processed by our AI provider to produce a response. Don't include sensitive personal information in these messages. AI responses can be wrong; treat them as study help, not authoritative answers.
Jurly in Claude and other AI assistants
Jurly's free practice connector lets you answer Jurly questions inside AI assistants such as Claude, after signing in with your Jurly account. When you use it, our server receives the requests your assistant sends: which Jurly tool it called, the skill or difficulty asked for, and the answer letters you give. We don't receive your name, email address or the rest of your conversation. To enforce the free limits and run the mini-diagnostic, we store a one-way hash of a random connection ID our server issues (and, for requests that don't come from the assistant provider's servers, a one-way hash of the IP address), the date, the IDs of the questions served and whether each answer was right. We use this only to run the connector and to see, in aggregate, how questions are used, and we delete it after 90 days. If the connector asks you to sign in with your Jurly account, we also link the questions you've been served to that account so the free allowance applies per person, and we note which assistants you've connected Jurly to (for example Claude), so the app can offer them in Settings. Both are kept with your account and deleted with it. Your conversation itself is handled by the assistant's provider under its own privacy policy.
How long we keep information
We keep your account and study activity for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete your account and saved progress from our database within 30 days, except where we must keep something to comply with law or resolve a dispute. Copies stored in your own browser stay there until you clear them or use Reset in Settings. Daily AI usage counts (a date and a number of requests) are kept with your account and deleted with it.
Your choices and rights
- Access and portability: download a copy of your progress any time from Settings → Backup, and any test result from Progress → Saved results.
- Correction: change your test date, target score and schedule in Settings.
- Marketing email: use the unsubscribe link in any Jurly email, or email us. Account emails, like receipts and password resets, still arrive.
- Deletion: reset your progress in Settings, or email jake@getjurly.com from your account's email address to delete your account entirely.
- Questions or other requests: email us and we'll respond within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, including California, Utah and other U.S. states, or the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you may have additional rights, such as to know what personal information we hold, to delete or correct it, to object to or restrict certain uses, and to not be discriminated against for using these rights. We honor these requests for all users, wherever they live. If you're in the EEA or UK, we process your information to provide the service you asked for (contract) and for our legitimate interests in securing and improving Jurly, and you may complain to your local data protection authority. Your information is stored and processed in the United States.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and database rules that let each account read and change only its own data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password you don't use elsewhere.
Children
Jurly is for adults preparing for law school admission. It isn't directed to children, and you must be at least 18 to create an account. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and tell you in the app or by email before the changes take effect.
